King Alfred Statue - Winchester SRP Wessex Branch

Society of Recorder Players web site

Welcome to the Wessex SRP website.

We are a branch of the national Society of Recorder Players, meeting in Winchester once a month for three hours to play recorder music together as a large group (20 - 30 players).   We play instruments ranging in size from the 9-inch sopranino to the 6-foot contrabass.

We meet at 2pm on the fourth Saturday of each month at St. Swithun's School, Winchester and play under the baton of our musical director, Mary Steele, or one of the fine guest conductors affiliated to the Society.  We play a wide variety of music, ancient and modern, for maximum enjoyment!

We always welcome new players - if you enjoy playing the recorder but have never played in a group before or are a little rusty, you can come along to one of our meetings as a visitor without having to join right away. The only requirements are that you can read music and play a recorder! The session runs from 2pm until 5pm with a break for refreshments (tea & coffee are available).
